Southernmost Yellowtail Festival — A Yellowtail Festival at Moseulpo Port

The Southernmost Yellowtail Festival is introduced as a representative seafood festival where you can taste the flavor of yellowtail caught in Jeju's clean waters and experience Jeju's sea culture. Moseulpo Port — A Representative Port of Southwestern Jeju

Moseulpo Port is a port in Hamo-ri, Daejeong-eup, Seogwipo-si, and it is the end point of Jeju Olle Route 10 and the starting point of Route 11. It is introduced as a representative port of southwestern Jeju and the southernmost fishing base.

The place name Moseulpo is said to come from "Mosalgae," meaning "a harbor with sand." It is also said to have begun from the name for the coastal area of Sangmo-ri and Hamo-ri in Daejeong-eup, where coastal sand dunes developed long ago because of strong winds.

Between the waters off Moseulpo Port and the sea south of Marado Island live many kinds of fish, such as yellowtail, tilefish and damselfish, so the area has long been known as a golden fishing ground. Although the wind and currents are strong here, it is also known as a yellowtail-producing area, and from October to February a yellowtail fishing ground is said to form around Marado Island.

Yellowtail Festival Street — From the Old Moseulpo Post Office Site to Moseulpo Port

Yellowtail Festival Street is a specialty street in the Moseulpo Port area, created around fresh yellowtail caught at the country's southernmost tip. It runs from the site of the old Moseulpo Post Office to Moseulpo Port and serves as the main stage of the Southernmost Yellowtail Festival.

Even outside the festival period, it is introduced as a street selling wild live fish and seafood caught in the clean waters around Marado Island and Gapado Island. If you would like to look around the Moseulpo area ahead of the festival, the street and the port are worth seeing together.
